Jackfruit halwa, also known as "Kathal ka Halwa," is a sweet and indulgent dessert made from ripe jackfruit. Jackfruit is a tropical fruit with a distinctive sweet aroma and a unique taste that can range from mild to intense, depending on its ripeness. When used in desserts like halwa, jackfruit lends its naturally sweet flavor and rich texture to create a delightful treat.

It is the time of Jackfruit and for all the halwa lovers I am introducing Jackfruit halwa. I will make it a bit tasty, this will be really delicious for all the sweet tooth out there. Its a long and time consuming process for a sweet, but worth the hard work. As jackfruit is a seasonal fruit, my mother prepares in bulk and uses for the off seasons.

You can serve jackfruit halwa warm or at room temperature. It's a delightful dessert that's enjoyed for its unique jackfruit flavor and the richness of ghee and nuts.

Jackfruit halwa is a specialty in regions where jackfruit is abundant, and it offers a sweet twist on the natural flavors of the fruit. It's a great way to celebrate the tropical delight of jackfruit in a traditional Indian dessert.

Ingredients

  1. Chopped Jackfruit – 4 cups

  2. Sugar – 2 cups

  3. Corn flour – 1/4 cup

  4. Milk – 1 cup

  5. Ghee – 1/4 cup

  6. Cashew nuts – 15


Method of preparation

  1. Add the chopped jackfruit in a blender

  2. Blend it by adding small amount of water and make Jackfruit puree

  3. Switch on the flame and add this puree to a kadai

  4. Add sugar

  5. Mix the cornflour in milk

  6. Add milk to the kadai,when the sugar dissolves completely

  7. Now add ghee and mix well

  8. Cook in a medium flame until you get a thick consistency

  9. Check the taste and add sugar and ghee as per your taste(if needed)

  10. Roast cashew nuts in ghee and add it to kadai

  11. Mix well

  12. Switch off the flame when halwa consistency is reached

  13. Allow the Halwa to cool

  14. Our jackfruit halwa is ready to serve

  15. Refrigerate the halwa in containers.
