Pineapple burfi is a delightful and sweet Indian dessert that's made using pineapple and condensed milk. It has a rich and creamy texture with the wonderful flavor of pineapple. Here's an explanation of how to make pineapple burfi without a specific recipe:
Ingredients:
Fresh or canned pineapple, finely chopped or crushed
Ghee (clarified butter)
Cardamom powder (optional)
Chopped nuts like almonds, cashews, or pistachios (for garnishing)
Instructions:
Preparation:
If using fresh pineapple, make sure to peel and finely chop or crush it. If using canned pineapple, drain any excess liquid and chop or crush it.
In a heavy-bottomed pan, heat a small amount of ghee over medium heat.
Add the chopped pineapple, followed by grated coconut and sauté it for a few minutes until it loses some of its moisture and the raw smell diminishes.
Thickening:
Continue cooking the mixture over medium-low heat, stirring frequently to prevent sticking.
The mixture will start to thicken as the moisture evaporates. You'll notice it getting denser and more cohesive.
Flavoring:
If desired, add a pinch of cardamom powder to enhance the flavor. Cardamom pairs well with the sweetness of the condensed milk and the tanginess of pineapple.
Setting:
As the mixture continues to cook and thicken, it will start to come away from the sides of the pan. This is an indication that it's ready to be set.
Shaping and Garnishing:
Grease a plate or a tray with a little ghee.
Transfer the cooked mixture to the greased plate and spread it evenly using a spatula.
Sprinkle the chopped nuts over the top, gently pressing them into the mixture.
Cooling and Cutting:
Allow the pineapple burfi to cool down at room temperature. As it cools, it will further set.
Once it's completely cooled and firm, you can cut it into desired shapes, like squares or diamonds.
Serving:
Pineapple burfi is now ready to be enjoyed! Serve it as a sweet treat after meals or as a festive dessert during special occasions.
Remember that the quantities of ingredients can vary based on your preferences and the amount of pineapple you have. The process involves cooking the pineapple and condensed milk mixture until it thickens and sets, giving you a delectable dessert with the fruity goodness of pineapple and the creamy richness of condensed milk.
